Biography
Filippo Hercolani, 4th Prince Hercolani, was an Italian nobleman and writer of the eighteenth century. Born in 1736, he represented the cultured aristocracy of the Papal States and Italian peninsula.
Hercolani's literary pursuits and intellectual interests reflected the Enlightenment values embraced by progressive nobility of his time. As a writer and prince, he contributed to the cultural discourse of his era while managing the affairs of his principality. He died in Bologna in 1810.
