Florence Henri
1893–1982 (age 89)
Biography
Florence Henri gained recognition as a photographer of the avant-garde, blending constructivist geometry with Surrealist sensibility. Born in 1893, she captured reflections, mirrors, and light as expressive tools, shaping portraits and still lifes that spoke to the era’s restless creativity.
Beyond her photography she taught, guided young artists, and remained devoted to the evolution of modern art, keeping an open mind to new experiments. Her legacy, luminous and introspective, rests quietly at the Crématorium-columbarium du Père-Lachaise.
