Biography
Frances Bowes-Lyon, Countess of Strathmore and Kinghorne, was a prominent figure in Scottish aristocratic society during the nineteenth century. Born in 1832, she occupied an important position within one of Scotland's most distinguished families, known for their extensive estates and influence in the Highlands.
The Countess maintained the traditions and responsibilities associated with her title throughout her long life, passing away in 1922 at the age of ninety. She was laid to rest in the burial ground of St Fergus's Church in Glamis, near the family seat that had been central to her life and legacy.
