Biography
Frances Spence was a pioneering computer programmer, one of the original women who programmed the ENIAC, the first electronic general-purpose computer. Her technical skill and remarkable problem solving at a momentous juncture in computer history opened doors for future generations of women in STEM.
Her accomplished career continues to inspire, and she is celebrated for her intellect, perseverance, and role in shaping the early landscape of computing at the Cemetery of the Holy Rood.
