Biography

Francesco Maria Piave (1810–1876) was a distinguished Italian writer and librettist whose career spanned much of the nineteenth century. His contributions to Italian literature and opera were substantial, and he worked during a period of great cultural flourishing in Italy.

Piave's legacy endures through his literary and operatic works, which helped shape Italian cultural expression in the nineteenth century. His final resting place in the Monumental Cemetery of Milan reflects his prominence and lasting influence on Italian arts and letters.
