Biography
Francis Cockrell (1834–1915) served with distinction as a Confederate brigadier general and later represented Missouri for five terms in the United States Senate, earning respect for his deliberate counsel on fiscal matters and veterans affairs.
Upon retiring from public office, he returned to private law practice and remained a tireless advocate for education and civic responsibility until his final days at Sunset Hill.
