Francis Edwin Shober

Biography

Francis Edwin Shober (1831-1896) represented North Carolina in the United States House of Representatives, where his thoughtful voice and legal insight helped shape the deliberations of a nation still healing from sectional strife.

After leaving public office he continued to counsel younger leaders and remained deeply connected to his home community, whose respect is reflected in the quiet repose of Chestnut Hill Cemetery.
