Biography

Francis Kelsey spent nearly forty years teaching classical languages at the University of Michigan, nurturing students and leading archaeological efforts that brought papyri and artifacts from abroad to Ann Arbor.

He built the collection that became the Kelsey Museum, encouraging field research and a love of history that continues to inspire scholars today.
