Biography
Francis Key Brooke (1852–1918) was a distinguished Episcopal bishop and educator who helped establish the church’s presence across the developing communities of the American Midwest and Southwest. After years of scholarly study, he was called to lead missionary work, shepherding congregations, training clergy, and championing schools where new generations could grow in faith and wisdom.
His thoughtful sermons, generous mentorship, and deep compassion endeared him to many, and his legacy endures in the institutions that continue to thrive because of his early stewardship. Though interred at Kenyon College Cemetery, his spirit of service is still felt by those who recall his lifelong pursuit of holiness and learning.
