Francis Lubbock

Biography

Francis Lubbock, born in 1815, served Texas with devotion through several critical roles, including a term as governor during the Civil War and later service in state administration. He carried the burdens of leadership with a steady hand, guiding the young republic through turbulent waters and remaining committed to its advancement.

After his years in office he continued to offer counsel to public servants and to cherish the land of his birth, believing firmly in the virtues of duty and thrift. Lubbock rests at the Texas State Cemetery, where the state he governed keeps watch over his memory.
