Biography

Francis Newdigate was a man of the gentry whose life extended through the late 18th and into the early 19th century. He maintained his family's connections and estates during a period of considerable change in English society and agriculture.

Newdigate lived to an advanced age, passing away in 1835. He was laid to rest at the Church of St Mary the Virgin in Astley, where he was commemorated among the monuments of his ancestral parish and the families of his region.
