Francis Pelham, 7th Earl of Chichester
1905–1926 (age 21)
Biography
Francis Pelham, 7th Earl of Chichester (1905–1926) inherited his earldom during the interwar period, though his life was tragically brief. As a member of the English peerage, he represented an ancient and distinguished family line, yet he was denied the opportunity to make a substantial mark upon the world through a lengthy career or significant public service.
His early death at the age of twenty-one cut short what might have been a notable life of political and social prominence. The 7th Earl was laid to rest in the Parish Church of All Saints in Laughton, where his memory is preserved among the monuments of his family and community.
