Biography

Francis Trowbridge Sherman rose from his Midwestern roots to command brigades in the Western Theater of the Civil War, standing with his men through the campaigns at Fort Donelson, Corinth, and Vicksburg.

After the conflict he settled in Chicago, lending his steady hand to veterans' causes and civic clubs while sharing the lessons of sacrifice and resilience with the next generation.
