Francis Wheatley

Biography

Francis Wheatley (1747–1801) earned acclaim as a painter of portraits, landscapes, and lively domestic scenes, his work entering the collections of noble patrons and capturing the texture of Georgian society with sympathetic brushstrokes.

He was laid to rest in St. Marylebone Churchyard, where fellow artists and admirers remember him as a generous spirit whose canvases preserved the faces and moods of a vibrant era.
