Biography

Francis Xavier Seelos (1819–1867) brought the care of the Church to waves of immigrants and the sick, ministering with tireless compassion across the region and forming bonds of faith wherever he traveled. His sermons and catechesis drew people into welcoming communities, especially as he served at Saint Mary's Assumption Church.

Even after his death in 1867, the faithful who knew him recall a gentle shepherd whose prayers supported many; Saint Mary's still honors the priest whose life radiated mercy.
