Frank Soskice, Baron Stow Hill

1902–1979 (age 77)

Biography

Frank Soskice, Baron Stow Hill, combined legal mastery with a deep commitment to public service, rising from the Bar to become one of Labour’s most respected voices. As Solicitor General and later Home Secretary he sought to temper the law with compassion, championing the rule of law while remaining attentive to social justice.

He continued to support democratic institutions after leaving front-line politics, mentoring younger lawyers and remaining an advisor to colleagues. His resting place at St John-at-Hampstead marks the quiet close to a career guided by principle.
