Biography

František Kovář (1882–1941) was a Czech individual whose life spanned the late Austro-Hungarian period through the early decades of Czechoslovak independence. He came of age during the final years of the empire and lived through the founding and development of the independent Czech state.

Kovář's lifetime witnessed extraordinary transformations in Central European politics and society. He experienced the optimism of the early Czechoslovak Republic before the gathering clouds of World War II. He died in 1941 during the Nazi occupation and was interred at Olšany Cemetery in Prague.
