Franz Xavier Wernz (1842–1914) was a distinguished theologian whose scholarly contributions shaped Catholic intellectual thought in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Born in 1842, he dedicated his life to theological study and teaching, becoming a respected figure in the Church's academic circles.

Wernz's legacy as a theologian continues to be recognized within Catholic scholarship. He was laid to rest at Campo Verano in Rome, one of the city's most significant burial grounds, reflecting the esteem in which he was held by the Church at the time of his death in 1914.
