Biography
Fred Apostoli rose from a challenging childhood to become a champion middleweight boxer, earning the world title in the late 1930s with a punishing, yet intelligent, fighting style. His determination in the ring, coupled with a charismatic presence outside it, made him a fan favorite in San Francisco and across the country.
After retiring from competition, he turned to coaching and mentoring online hopefuls, passing on both the discipline of training and the grace of sportsmanship, remaining connected to the boxing world that had defined so much of his life.
