Biography
Frédéric Bazille was a talented French painter whose promising career was cut short during the Franco-Prussian War. Born in 1841, he showed considerable artistic promise and contributed to the development of French painting in the mid-19th century, working during a time of great artistic innovation.
Bazille's legacy is that of a dedicated artist whose life was interrupted by the tragic circumstances of war. He was laid to rest in the Protestant cemetery in Montpellier.
