Biography

Frédéric Masson was an illustrator whose artistic talents brought visual expression to the cultural and literary works of his time. Born in 1835, he witnessed and participated in the flourishing of French artistic traditions throughout the nineteenth century.

Masson lived to the age of 84, dying in 1919 shortly after the conclusion of the First World War. He is interred at Cimetière parisien de Bagneux, remembered for his contributions to the visual arts and illustration.
