Frederick Hyde

Biography

Frederick Hyde (1807–1887) was a lifelong resident of Cortland County whose steady presence helped anchor the rural community through generations of change. He was known among neighbors for his practical wisdom, willingness to lend a hand, and respect for the quiet dignity of farm life in upstate New York.

He remained devoted to his family and to local institutions, offering support to the town and surrounding hamlets until his passing, and now rests at Cortland Rural Cemetery among the neighbors who shared his labors.
