Biography

Frederick Oakeley (1802–1880) shared the fruits of his devout faith through essays and translations, including his beloved rendering of "Adeste Fideles", that helped anchor English Catholic devotion in the nineteenth century.

Later he guided parish life with a gentle hand and the example of his own literary labors, and he now rests in St Mary's Catholic Cemetery at Kensal Green.
