Biography
Frederick T. Frelinghuysen of New Jersey was a lawyer and statesman who sat in the U.S. Senate during the turbulent years following the Civil War and later served as Secretary of State, guiding the nation through complex foreign affairs.
He was remembered for his measured diplomacy and devotion to principle, and he was laid to rest at Mount Pleasant Cemetery in 1885.
