Biography

King Friedrich August III of Saxony (1865–1932) was the last reigning monarch of the Kingdom of Saxony. He ascended to the throne in 1904 and reigned until the abdication of German monarchs following World War I in 1918.

Friedrich August III was a significant figure in both Saxon and broader German history, navigating the complex political landscape of the late Imperial period and the transition to the Weimar Republic. He was interred in the Dresden Cathedral, the principal church of Saxony and a fitting resting place for Saxon royalty.
