Biography

Friedrich Welwitsch (1806–1872) was a distinguished Portuguese botanist and botanical collector of international reputation. His extensive work in collecting and cataloging plant specimens contributed significantly to the advancement of botanical science during the nineteenth century.

Welwitsch's dedication to botanical exploration resulted in numerous discoveries and a substantial herbarium that enriched scientific knowledge. He was interred at Kensal Green Cemetery, honoring his contributions to natural science.
