Biography

Gabriel Centnerszwer (1841–1917) was a Polish publisher whose work contributed to the dissemination of knowledge and culture during the partition period. As a publisher, he played an important role in preserving and promoting Polish intellectual and cultural life during a time when such efforts were fraught with political complexity.

Centnerszwer's career spanned more than seven decades, witnessing the evolution of Polish publishing and the growth of literacy and education in Polish society. He was honored with burial in the Okopowa Street Jewish Cemetery in Warsaw, reflecting his prominence within Warsaw's Jewish community and his contributions to Polish cultural life.
