Biography
Gabriel Thouin (1747–1829) was an eminent French landscape architect and horticulturist whose innovative work shaped the aesthetic and botanical landscape of late 18th and early 19th-century France. His expertise in garden design and horticultural science made him a leading figure in his field, influencing the development of French gardens and parks.
Thouin's career spanned more than five decades, during which he contributed significantly to both the artistic and scientific aspects of landscape architecture. He lived to the age of 82 and died in 1829, receiving the distinction of burial in Père Lachaise Cemetery, where he was recognized as a master of his craft and a pioneer in horticultural advancement.
