Born in 1860, Gardner Baxter Charlick came of age amid the rapid expansion of New York City, deeply appreciating the civic and cultural life that blossomed around him.

He was cherished by his friends and family for a measured kindness and a deep respect for tradition, and he now rests in the tranquility of Green-Wood Cemetery after passing in 1901.
