Biography
Georg Carstensen, born in 1812, became the imaginative entrepreneur who created Tivoli Gardens, blending entertainment, culture, and technology in a place that welcomed Danes and visitors alike to enjoy lantern-lit evenings.
Even after he left Denmark, his vision lived on, shaping a new type of public space, and though he died prematurely in 1857 he rests at Garnison Cemetery as a reminder of the joy and innovation he introduced to Copenhagen.
