Biography
Georg Guthmann was an architect of the 19th century who participated in the ongoing development and modernization of Russian cities. Born in 1816, he represented a new generation of architects working in the Russian Empire, bringing contemporary European architectural practices and innovations to Russian construction projects.
Guthmann's career flourished during the reign of Nicholas I and the early years of Alexander II, periods of significant architectural activity and urban development. He passed away in 1849 and was interred in the Smolensky Lutheran Cemetery, honoring his contributions to Russian architecture.
