Biography
George Allan Maling embodied the noblest ideals of military medicine, serving with courage amid the horrors of the Great War and receiving the Victoria Cross for his fortitude in treating the wounded under fire. His calm presence at dressing stations brought hope to men who had already seen too much suffering.
After the conflict, he continued to care for patients with the same steadiness, supporting the local community of Bishopwearmouth and offering reassurance to families who looked to him for guidance in difficult times.
