Biography

George Bibb Crittenden was born in 1812, graduated from West Point, and served as an officer in the Mexican-American War before the Civil War altered the nation he knew.

He joined the Confederacy, led brigades in some of the hardest campaigns, and despite the controversies that followed his wartime service, he spent his later years striving for reconciliation with the veterans around him until his death in 1880.
