George Bliss Throop (1793–1854) moved through the first half of the nineteenth century with a steady devotion to the people around him, sharing in their joys and lifting them in their sorrows.

He rests in Johnstown Colonial Cemetery, where the quiet stones stand as a tribute to the steadfastness he displayed.
