Biography

George Bryan Porter was a man of the early nineteenth century whose life reflected the growth and development of the young American nation. Born in 1791, he came of age during the early years of the republic and participated in the community and social life of his era.

Though his life was relatively brief, ending in 1834 at the age of forty-three, Porter made his mark on those who knew him through his presence and participation in community affairs. He was remembered by his family and associates as a man of his time whose life reflected the values and aspirations of the early American republic.
