George Burd

Biography

George Burd (1788–1844) devoted himself to building the local economy through honest trade and the generosity that bound neighbors together in shared purpose.

He valued the dignity of every person he met and encouraged others to see the future with hope, a spirit now commemorated at Old Mercer Graveyard.
