Biography

George Creel, born in Independence in 1876, made his name as an investigative journalist whose reporting championed civic reform and held public institutions to account.

During World War I, he led the Committee on Public Information, seeking to rally Americans around a common purpose while urging citizens to remain informed, and he spent his later years writing and speaking about the importance of honest discourse.
