George Dawson Rowley
1822–1878 (age 56)
Biography
George Dawson Rowley was an ardent ornithologist whose curiosity carried him across the countryside in search of birds and their stories. From his base near St Mary’s in St Neots he cataloged species with care and shared his findings with fellow naturalists in a period when the study of birds was coming into its own.
Rowley’s meticulous observations and deep love of the avian world inspired others to look skyward, and the parish remembers him as a devoted scholar of nature.
