George Edward Doney (1758–1809) was a domestic worker who served his employers with dedication and faithfulness. His work in domestic service was essential to the functioning of the households he served, reflecting the important role of working people in Georgian society.

Doney's life, though modest in station, was valued by his community. He was memorialized near the Church of St Mary, where his headstone, positioned some fifty metres southwest of the church tower, stands as a testament to his life and service.
