George Hancock

Biography

Born in 1754, George Hancock carried his family through the turbulent years of revolution and early nationhood, keeping his household steady as the area now known as Fotheringay took shape.

He was laid to rest in Fotheringay Cemetery in 1820, and his grave still marks the dedication of an early settler who helped anchor the town.
