Biography

George Jones was a talented artist who contributed to the British art world during the late eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. Born in 1786, Jones worked during a period of flourishing artistic achievement and patronage in England, when the Royal Academy and private collectors actively supported painters and sculptors.

Jones's artistic endeavors earned him recognition sufficient to secure burial at Highgate Cemetery upon his death in 1869. His interment at this distinguished cemetery reflects the respect accorded to him within artistic and social circles of Victorian London.
