Biography

George Madison Adams, born near Lexington in 1837, studied law and devoted himself to public life during a time of fierce national debate. As a conscientious representative of Kentucky in Congress and later as postmaster of Louisville, he sought to temper partisan passions with a steady respect for the rule of law.
