Biography

George Richard Foley was born in 1753 and lived through the formative years of British India, passing away in 1801 at the age of forty-eight. He was laid to rest in South Park Street Cemetery, one of Calcutta's most historically significant burial grounds.

As a member of the Anglo-Indian community during the late eighteenth century, Foley witnessed the establishment and growth of British influence in India. His burial in this historic cemetery preserves his memory and marks his place among the generations who shaped the colonial era.
