Major General George Sears Greene (1801-1899) was a scholar of engineering and a courageous leader whose steadfast command during the Civil War, especially at Culp’s Hill, helped secure the Union position at Gettysburg.
He is interred in the Major General George Sears Greene Lot, where his lifelong devotion to duty, both on and off the battlefield, continues to inspire those who reflect upon his legacy.
