George Steers (1815–1856) was a distinguished naval architect whose innovative designs contributed significantly to American maritime achievement. His career was marked by technical excellence and a deep understanding of ship design during a critical period of naval development.

Steers's contributions to naval architecture left a lasting impact on American maritime history. Though his life was cut short at age 41, his professional legacy endured, and he was honored with burial at Green-Wood Cemetery in Brooklyn.
