Biography

George Strother, born in Virginia in 1783, represented his state in the U.S. House of Representatives in the late 1810s and carried the lessons of the republic into new territories as he followed the westward movement of the nation.

When he joined Missouri's growing political and legal world, he became part of the generation building governance along the Mississippi, and Bellefontaine Cemetery preserves his place among those who served the public trust.
