Biography

George Washington Cook was a steadfast advocate for Colorado, bringing to its people the steady hand of an attorney turned public servant. After establishing his legal practice in the growing Denver community, he took on duties that introduced him to the rhythms of the state's towns and countrysides, listening to farmers, miners, and families seeking fair courts and honest representation.

He carried that trust to Washington, serving as a U.S. Representative and championing irrigation, mining reform, and the wider interests of a maturing state, then remained engaged in civic life so Colorado would continue to thrive; today his memory is honored at Fairmount Cemetery.
