George W. Cooper, born in 1851, came of age during a period of rebuilding and hope, offering a calm example to his neighbors along Garland Brook. He tended to the needs of family and community with an unfailing sense of duty.

His passing in 1899 left a quiet sense of loss, yet the gentle rhythms he kept now echo through the stones of Garland Brook Cemetery where he lies.
