Biography

Gerald Nye served North Dakota in the U.S. Senate from 1925 to 1945, giving voice to farmers and small towns while chairing investigations that explored the financial ties surrounding war production. His insistence on transparency and fairness helped spur public awareness of how government policy affected rural communities.

Even after leaving the Senate he continued to write and to speak on behalf of sensible fiscal policy and the needs of his neighbors, remaining a respected elder statesman long after he left office.
