Geraldine Hervey, Marchioness of Bristol

1843–1927 (age 84)

Biography

Geraldine Hervey, Marchioness of Bristol, held the Ickworth estates at the heart of her public life, overseeing the gardens, households, and charities that were anchored to the Suffolk seat of her family. She welcomed the county's gentry and humble parishioners alike, ensuring St Mary's Church remained a constant place of solace for those who lived in the shadow of the great house.

In her later years she continued to foster that sense of belonging, supporting the clergy and servants who kept the church doors open and the grounds in order. Her death in 1927 left a grateful community mindful of her calm presence and of the neighbourhood she stewarded with care.
